Camo & Heels

I always was inspired to do an outfit with camo shorts and heels. It wasn't until today when the weather decided to be 72 degrees that I realized this was the perfect time.

I paired my new favorite bright yellow sweater, camo shorts from the boys department, and this puffer vest together to create a simple relaxed but season-mixing outfit. The layering and choices I decided to go with were perfect because I wasn't to cold or hot today. I threw in my favorite heel booties and some lipstick to make this outfit a little more feminine.

I must admit this is one of the most effortless outfits I have thought of and very casual. Do you like wearing baggy boy shorts? If so, how do you style them?

Oversized Pastel Coat

Growing up I had a wool oversized pink coat and now I really wish I still had it. I think its at my dads house, but with my schedule I don’t have time to get it. With all that being said I was extremely happy to see that this Fall & Winter pastel coats were trending.

Lately I have been a Forever21 junkie more than usual and thats when I first took notice of the oversized wool coats and even the various pastel ones they have to offer, $60 for a "just because I think its hot" coat was definitely not apart of my budget, especially with the big move I am about to make into my own place. But just because I couldn’t get the one Forever21 had to offer didn’t mean I couldn’t be apart of the trending factor.

I gladly went to the Georgia Ave Thrift and immediately fell in love. I found this featured baby blue pastel coat. At first it seemed to oversized but after trying it on about 4 times I realized it was exactly what I was looking for. The best part about this Thrifty find was that it was only $10 and 100% wool. After leaving this thrifting adventure I came out with this amazing coat, fringe boots, a corduroy blazer and a wool skirt.

Lately I have been wanting to wear this coat with everything. I like the fact that it looks great with a dress and even better with some jeans and flats or jeans and heels. Although I have 2 other coats of interest I feel that this will be my go to coat. What is your outtake on pastel coats? Would you agree wool oversized coats are a must have for this season?

Your Aunties Fav Outfit

Surprisingly, this complete outfit reminded me of something my Aunt would wear back when I was about 7. I could always count on her to have several color turtle necks, something I HATED as a child and never appreciated until now, and some type of high waisted pants. Although I could never fit her shoes, I did admire the various heels and booties she owned and these particular booties also gave me the "Auntie" vibe.

It wasn't till I accidentally put this outfit together that I realized it sparked a memory of early 2000 when this is all I saw my Aunt and sometimes my mother wearing. The best part about it all is that the pants and the Ralph Lauren turtle neck all came from the thrift store. I wanted to get a turtle neck, even though I ended up with 2, so that I could pair it with a new wool vintage coat I ordered. I never expected to wear turtle necks ever in life and like them.

This outfit is very simple and effortless. I took some classic pieces like the high waisted pants and turtle neck and paired them with some current trends: cute booties that are pretty comfortable, a leather moto jacket, and a plaid shirt. The final touch was to accessorize and add a pop of color like Cyber ( my favorite and only lipstick I want to wear with everything) and a small handbag that can be used as a clutch.

Does this outfit remind you of something you seen your Mom or Aunt wearing growing up? How do you style your favorite thrifted high waisted pants for the fall and winter? What's your outtake on turtle necks?

1 Shade. Several Textures.

So the idea of one color as the basic focus of an outfit is usually always a "heck yeah I'm all in" idea. But when you start talking about mixing different textures and patterns I always get a little scared. I never want any look I attempt to come off as I am just trying way to hard. Luckily for this outfit it all came so easy and without any hesitation.

I combined the concepts of both mention above and if I must say so myself, I think I pulled if off. I did give myself the option to wear black leather pants but I preferred the burgundy ones hands down over the black.
The outfit all started when I bought this amazing burgundy faux fur vest from Marshall's. I knew that whatever blouse I wore with this first had to be very simple because I wanted all the attention to be focused on the vest.

Shopping through Forever21 for some new staple pieces is where I found this simple chic cream blouse, along with my favorite black leather pants that I outgrew from last season. Leather pants are like a staple item for me because I always can do whatever I want with them and they make my butt look great. Browsing for black pants is where I came across these burgundy ones that I knew right away had to come home to me.

So far as textures we have thin chiffon, faux fur, and leather. Why stop there?! I decided to be extra bold and add these funky snake python platform boots my mother bought for me as a gift last Christmas. When she first introduced these boots to my collection of presents I was super hesitant but got creative right away.

The final addition to my outfit was a statement necklace by Coquettish and my favorite MAC lipstick Cyber. The option for a clutch is always presented. I probably wouldn't introduce a new texture like patent leather if I did add a clutch because then it would just be too much for me. The final look included thin chiffon, faux fur, leather, and snakeskin. I really enjoyed this outfit and it gave me a boost of confidence to carry on my day even though things have been a little stressful lately. Next time I wear these leather pants or even the fur I want to dress them down.

What prints or textures have you mixed together lately? How do you dress your leather pants or favorite printed boots?

Florals in the Fall

Blurred Lines

November is already here and I still haven't fully updated my wardrobe. But what's any wardrobe with a few basics and a few favorite pieces from past seasons?

This post features my favorite floral harem pants I wore like twice this past spring/summer. (but how are they my fav your asking....I know lol) They are so colorful and comfy you can dress them up or down and I did just that with this outfit.

I added a basic black long sleeve shirt, a pop of color with this scarf ( that I treated like an infinity scarf) and added some bootie heels to make this a simple cozy fall outfit. The option for a wide brim wool hat was there, but I decided to pass.

I'm not sure if it was the glasses but this look made me feel like an office assistant who really didn't want to get dressed but pulled it off for work.

This season I am focusing on using past pieces and simple basics to create new favorite looks. I usually by a shirt or pair of pants for one outfit only and now I am working on styling them more than one way.

The slouchy pants makes everything so comfortable and the heels give it a little edge of chic.

But whats any fall day without a read from
the current issue of Elle Magazine?

Elle November issue. I really thought this was a nice pic.
